When you wake up, the first thing you should do is reach for something to eat, so that your body could start digesting the food. Eat simple--low fat, and low protein, so you body can easily absorb it. Fruit, toast, bagels, even pancakes work well. And drink plenty of fluids, especially water. Try to use the bathroom--it will be nicer in your hotel than in the port-a-john! Get dressed and gather your clothes.
Aim to get to the race start no less than a half-hour before the race is set to begin. Look to see where the race start is located. Then make a beeline to the port-a-john line. Even if you don't feel that you need to use it, you likely will by the time it's your turn, and it's likely that pre-race jitters may leave you needing it anyway.
Enjoy your race! You've already done all the hard work in training, now just have fun! |
